The Ocean Virtual Laboratory (OVL) is a virtual platform to allow
oceanographers to discover the existence and then to handle jointly, in a
convenient, flexible and intuitive way, the various co-located EO datasets and
related model/in-situ datasets over dedicated regions of interest with a
different multifaceted point of view.
Make sure to explore
OceanDataLab
YouTube channel, where you can find videos demonstrating this portal in action.
These videos showcase finding interesting cases of synergy between various
sensors and data sources. You can find examples in the
tutorials
playlist as well as in other videos released during international events
over the past years:
Funded by the European Space Agency (ESA).
Supported by the ESA Network of Resources Initiative (NoR).
The timeline shows the currently selected datetime and timespan (the
width of the date range centered around the currently selected
datetime).
It also provides an overview of the temporal coverage for the selected
data products available in the geographical area displayed on the map.
To change the current datetime you can:
- Click on a day, month, or year
- Scroll (or drag a finger) over the days, months, or years
-
Use
and
keys
The Products panel contains a searchable catalog of products to show as
layers on the map.
There are several ways to scale the desired region on the map.
To move around the map you can click and drag with a mouse or a finger.
To zoom you can:
- Use the mouse wheel
- Use the zoom buttons on the right side of the screen
- Double-click, double-tap, or pinch on the map
The title bar buttons, from left to right, allow you to:
- Change the background base map
-
Show the colorbar and extrema for the displayed data and manage
their interactive rendering parameters (transparency, stacking order
and filtering for each product)
- Manage bookmarked case studies (aka. hotspots)
- Get a short URL for sharing the current view (without your annotations)
-
Create a shareable bookmark including your visible annotations, with
a preview image or animation using SEAShot (beta)
- Import and export your preferences and personal data (stored in this browser)
- Access transect and extraction tools
- Give feedback
- Access help dialogs
